SUPPORTERS OF EPINT 2017
Every support is welcome. Sport for the disabled receives a lot of it, also by former and current professional athletes. On the World Table Tennis Day support has been proven by Marko Milić and Roman Pungartnik. During 14th Slovenia Open Thermana Laško tournament, the largest table tennis tournament in the world, the support has also come from local sport teams.
The new loyal supporters of sports for the disabled are: female basketball team Cinkarna Celje, male basketball team Zlatorog Laško, handball team RK Pivovarna Laško and football team NK Celje. They have visited us at the tournament in May 2017 and also promised to join us at the upcoming european championship EPINT 2017 between 26th September and 5th October in Laško.
She respects them
„I have seen disabled athletes in action for the first time today. I haven't experienced it before. And I deeply respect and appreciate them even more now,“ said 19-year-old Larisa Ocvirk, member of Slovenian national handball team and also member of the ŽKK Cinkarna Celje. At the tournament in May she accompanied Damijan Lazar, the president of NPC Slovenia – Paralympic Committee, watches some table tennis games and listened to the issues disabled athletes are facing. At the end
of the visit she wished all the best to everyone.
Knowledge and will
„An interesting visit is behind us. Disabled athletes have shown strong will and knowledge,“ was enthusiastic 19-year-old Urban Durnik from KK Zlatorog Laško. Durnik watched some games in sports hall Tri lilije in the company of his three teammates – Dino Kobić, Ibrahim Mulaomerović, Romain Rubinštein and Jernej Ledl.
Supporter of the Wheelchair Handball
„I became acquainted with the sports for the disabled through Gregor Gračner during preparations in Zreče. Now we are thinking of becoming a promoter of wheelchair handball. After what I've seen in Laško I can only confirm the fact that disabled athletes have to make much more effort to achieve exceptional results,“ was enthusiastic Luka Žvižej, former member of Slovenian national handball team and a member of RK Pivovarna Laško. He also holds a record in the number of scored goals in the national team (702 goals in 217 games). He visited the tournament with Nenad Stojakovič and Roman Pungartnik.
Support from Laško
„I am the local, so I know about the tournament. Disabled athletes are exceptional in what they do. A lot of will and energy are invested in sports. They do not give up and I can say they are very competitive,“ said Jure Travner, captain of NK Celje.
